Fashion designers usually set the tone for the fashion trend in every society. They design clothing they think most people will like to wear. When they want to showcase their fashion collections to the public, they cherry pick cat-walkers with certain body types and shapes to wear the clothing or outfits they want to display. The body types and shapes of these cat-walkers are often very similar, and they are not the complete representation of the body types and shapes of many men and women in any society. It is hard to find short people or plus size women or men big and tall among the cat-walkers. This group of men and women left out of fashion modeling tend not to find “models” for their clothing. Unfortunately there are celebrities that do not have good taste for fashion, they tend to wear clothing that a lot of people consider inappropriate, and for these reasons some people may opt to be their own fashion icons. To be your own fashion icon implies you may not have to move with the fashion trend. You dress or choose what you wear irrespective of what other people around you are wearing or what you think your friends or colleagues expect you to wear. You love what you wear and go out of your way to choose the type of clothing that fit your body type and shape.

Being your own fashion icon requires that when you are buying your clothing, you have to carefully select clothing designs and styles that fit your body type and shape and also match your personality. Choosing to be your own fashion icon implies you having confidence in yourself. The clothing styles and designs you buy should reflect this sense of self confidence. If you cannot design and sew your own clothing, you have to make selection of your clothing from different brands so as to give you the varieties of clothing styles and designs you need for different events and occasions. Different clothing stores whether on-line clothing stores or brick and mortar clothing stores carry varieties of clothing from different fashion designers. As your own fashion icon you need to search out different clothing stores to see the different clothing styles and designs they carry and make selections from their collections. There are fashion designers that specialize in only women’s dresses, evening dresses, cocktail dresses and long gowns. Some other designers specialize in women’s official or formal wears such as skirt suits, pant suits, dress pants, pant sets, blouses, skirts and church dress suits. There are some others that specialize in men’s clothing such as business suits, men’s dress shirts with matching ties and hankie, jackets, sportcoats or winter coats while others specialize in other men’s accessories like men’s knit vests, cufflinks, sweaters, men’s dress shoes and other varieties of men’s clothing like scooter or motorcycle jackets, denim vests, denim shirts, men’s casual shirts, men’s walking suits and many others. There are varieties of clothing you can choose from always bearing in mind your body type, shape, personality and the nature of events and occasions you attend.

The Untold Agony of American Immigrant Parents That Lost Their Kids Culturally

Every year hundreds of thousands of people come to America, some for sightseeing and most come to seek for a better life. These immigrants dream of a future in America that is no less than heaven. What happens is that they in pursuance of their heaven they forget about their world. What I mean to say is that for immigrants to achieve their American dream, they will usually have to work hard on a regular basis that they are left with little or no time to spend with the children. The children slowly and gradually convert to the local culture and adapt to the local language. With little or no practice of their heritage language the children often tend to forget what they might have learnt earlier about their heritage language.

In some cases the parents themselves are apprehensive about the idea of teaching their children their heritage language, fearing that it might affect their ability to learn English. This does not only keep them away from the language, but also from the heritage culture of the parents. With the passage of time, the children are totally Americanized culturally and most parents will realize this misfortune only when their children are totally far gone into a strange culture and consider themselves as strangers to their own parent’s heritage.

This is a very painful episode that an immigrant can go through as the children grow up with a different ideology and opinion which most times contradict what you have learnt in your culture and society. Yet, another point of distress for such parents is that your child will totally avoid people from your heritage culture and drifts away with people from the dominant society. They no longer own you, your culture, your ideologies and even in some cases your religion. This happened probably because we as immigrant parents were too busy trying to make ends meet or being too apprehensive to teach your children your heritage language at an earlier age.

Teaching heritage language not just makes a child bilingual, but it also deeply embeds the seeds of heritage culture, norms, mannerism and an identity. These seeds grow with time and constant practice of your heritage language. If properly nurtured, your child will not be lost in the sea of the dominant culture and you will be saved from regrets later on.

Costa Blanca Holidays – Finding A Nice Restaurant

At the moment you are enjoying your well deserved Costa Blanca holiday, after the fist couple of days in your holiday villa or apartment you might wander, where to find a nice restaurant at the Costa Blanca?

The first part of the evening you will have to search a nice restaurant, if you are in Altea, or if you want to visit this beautiful place, you will find some very nice restaurants.

If you don’t want to spend a lot of money, there is a very nice restaurant at the first line of the beach in Altea called “Tutti Frutti”, you can gat a pizza, but I really would advice a very nice salad, served in an eatable bowl, the menus are good priced and very nice. From the terrace you can overlook the Mediterranean, which will provide you with a nice cool breeze.

Near the Altea church, moving down from the churches square in the direction of the Sierra Bernia Mountain you will find a busy street with some very nice restaurants. In “Estromboli” you can eat very good Italian food and they have very nice smashed tomato sauce, from grandfathers own garden.

At the other side of the street you have the very nice restaurant “Ousteau”, which is brilliantly decorated and has a fantastic ambiance. The very friendly staff will guide you to your table, which with nice warm weather can be on a cosy outside terrace, but always will be nice situated. The food is very good, you can choose from a “Hollywood” card, making you doubt between a “Al Pachino” steak or a “Marlin Monroe” salad…

If you would like to spend some more, enjoying the good gastronomic life I will advice the restaurant “el Nuevo Alcazar” in La Nucia. A really good restaurant managed by people crazy about food.

Also a very high standard you will find at the restaurant “La Fusion” and “Los Dos Lunas” in el Albir, 2 more to put on your list to try.

If you like to have something tipical Spanish, Benidorm is the place to be.. In the old town of Benidorm there is a special street with a lot of typical “tapas” bars, here you will find the Spanish people enjoying all kinds of small snacks and nice wines.

Of course you will find as well Mc Donald’s as Burger king in Benidorm, but it is not recommended to go there unless you can’t really stop yourself.

The Spanish food is really great to try, like a good paella you can try it in the “Chiringuito” in the beach of Albir, where the Spanish are all at large tables eating the paella. For those who absolutely despise of seafood there is a special paella type called “a banda” and one with only vegetables. Also there is a very large grill were they prepare some giant steaks.

Anyway, it’s the golden rule to see if a restaurant is good, look if there are enough Spanish people sitting there!!!
